The past relationship between Maia Estianty and Ahmad Dhani has once again become a hot topic following the marriage of their son, Al Ghazali, to Alyssa Daguise.
Recently, Maia’s parents came forward to reveal why they never approved of the marriage from the beginning.

According to her mother, Kusthini, she felt uneasy from the moment Maia decided to marry Ahmad Dhani in 1996, despite the family’s opposition to the decision.
“I was the angriest when she chose her partner.
We truly didn’t agree, but it was God’s plan.
From the start, my heart wasn’t at peace,” Kusthini explained, as quoted from Kompas.com.
Maia’s father, Harjono Sigit, shared the same sentiment, admitting he also felt uneasy from the beginning of his daughter’s marriage.
“When she got married the first time, I already felt uneasy,” he said briefly.
The couple eventually divorced officially on September 23, 2008. While facing their daughter’s marital turmoil, Kusthini said she often calmed her husband to accept their fate.
Maia later admitted that her marriage to Ahmad Dhani took place without her parents’ blessings.

“I only realized later how important a mother’s blessing is.
My life fell apart during my first marriage because I didn’t have my parents’ approval,” she said honestly.
In an episode of Indonesian Idol 2018, Maia also confirmed that the song Cukup Siti Nurbaya, written by Ahmad Dhani, was actually dedicated to her mother, who opposed their relationship at the time. – BOOM!
