Comedian Shahrol Shiro believes that the actions of three radio presenters, Nabil Ahmad, Radin, and Azad Jasmin, who publicly apologized after being accused of mocking another religion’s ceremony, were the right steps.
Through an Instagram post, Shahrol, whose real name is Shahrol Azizie Azmi, also praised the professionalism of the trio for cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
“This viral issue is similar to the KK Mart and Cecelia Yap case. The right action you took was to apologize.
“The viral video clearly shows you were wrong for insulting another religion. But you’ve come forward to apologize, went to Batu Caves, and then to MCMC to give your statements. Next, you’ll go to Bukit Aman IPD. You’ve also been suspended as radio presenters,” he said.
However, Shahrol disagreed with the radio station’s decision to suspend them temporarily before the investigation is completed.
“You’ve already apologized and are under investigation. The station should wait until the investigation is over before taking action.
“Like the KK Mart issue, the premises were temporarily closed during the investigation. That’s a punishment. If possible, don’t suspend them because they have families to support.
“Let’s respect each other and take this issue as a lesson,” he added.
Previously, a viral video showed Azad allegedly imitating a kavadi dance while Nabil chanted ‘Vel Vel’, before they laughed. The clip drew criticism as it was deemed insulting to Hindu beliefs.
Realizing their mistake, Nabil, Azad, and Radin came forward to apologize publicly. – BOOM!
