The charming 90s actor Edika Yusof, 58, has dismissed wild claims linking the reason for his divorce from his ex-wife, Nor Hidayah Yusri, 47, to domestic violence.
“There’s no connection to violence. If I had really done something like that, she has three older brothers and three younger brothers, six in total. The kids are grown too. Why only make a report now, why not back then?” Edika firmly told Harian Metro.
Edika said that throughout their 22 years together, he tried his best to be a responsible husband and father to their family.
According to Edika, his ex-wife claimed the divorce was due to religious legal issues, not physical abuse.
“She claimed I mentioned the word divorce multiple times. But in reality, I was just trying to educate her on how talak can occur. I said things like, ‘Do you want me to let you go, to divorce you…’, and she considered that as talak being pronounced,” Edika explained.
However, he said, the court confirmed that talak is only valid if pronounced in a sound state of mind and with genuine intention, not just as words spoken in the heat of anger.
Edika and Nor Hidayah were officially divorced with one talak at the Federal Territory Lower Syariah Court at 10:42 a.m. today, after 21 years of marriage. They have a pair of children, Nazirul Afiq, Fardeen Nasrulhaq (21), and Fereena Nurulhaq (20). – BOOM!
