Renowned actress Rozita Che Wan, better known as Che Ta, is alleged to still have an outstanding debt balance of RM443,392 with the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA).
MARA Chairman, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, refuted Che Ta’s previous claims that she had fully settled her business debt, which was close to RM1 million.
According to Asyraf Wajdi, as of 18 February, Che Ta had made payments totaling RM689,307.59, including approximately RM150,000 in cash at the MARA office, while the remainder was paid through online transactions.
“Rozita has not settled her debt. The remaining RM443,392 must be paid by 31 March. Claims that all her debts have been cleared are untrue,” he said.
He further emphasized that MARA will not compromise with any party, including celebrities or prominent figures, regarding loan repayments.
“These loan funds are public money and can be used to help more students and entrepreneurs in need,” he added.
It is understood that the payments made by Che Ta earlier were to postpone potential court actions that could lead to the auction of her property and bankruptcy status.
For context, on 10 December last year, Che Ta’s residence in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, was raided by MARA officers and court representatives following her failure to settle a loan taken out in 2017.
MARA has now given Che Ta until the end of March to fully settle her remaining debt before strict action is taken. – BOOM!
