Renowned Indonesian YouTuber, Bobon Santoso, surprised many when he recently decided to embrace Islam. However, his decision has raised questions after his wife, Cheryl Ruan, appeared to be unaware of the matter.
Previously, Bobon was seen removing Cheryl’s name from the list of people he follows on social media, sparking speculation about their relationship.
Not wanting to cause any commotion, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, Bobon later uploaded a photo with Cheryl and their children, accompanied by a meaningful caption.
“There’s nothing better in this world than family,” he wrote.
What caught the attention of many, however, was Bobon disabling the comments section on the post, as if to avoid any negative remarks from netizens.
More surprisingly, Cheryl herself previously gave an unexpected reaction when she questioned the news of Bobon’s conversion to Islam.
“Seriously, he converted to Islam? Because I haven’t received any information,” said Cheryl while resharing a video of Bobon reciting the Shahadah.
Bobon, however, chose not to respond to any questions regarding his religion.
“I won’t entertain any Q&A sessions. Let this be a matter between me and my God. Please pray for the best,” he firmly stated.
Meanwhile, Ustaz Derry Sulaiman, who guided Bobon through this process, also revealed that Bobon had long been interested in Islam and had been studying the religion prior to his conversion.
Bobon’s decision has undoubtedly drawn widespread attention, but more importantly, he is now stepping into a new chapter of his life. – BOOM!
