Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has revealed her mastectomy scars for the first time as a way to raise awareness and prevent breast cancer.

Angelina said she is sharing her experience 12 years after undergoing the procedure. She emphasized empathy and solidarity, appreciating the experiences of other women, while encouraging support and awareness about breast health.
“I share these scars with many women I love. And I am always moved when I see other women sharing their scars,” she told Time France.

Angelina stressed that her intention in participating in awareness efforts is to spread important information about prevention, care, and knowledge regarding breast cancer.
“I want to join them because I know that Time France will share information about breast health, prevention, and knowledge about breast cancer,” she added.

She underwent the procedure six years after losing her mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, to breast cancer in 2007. Doctors discovered that Angelina carries the BRCA1 gene, which significantly increases the risk of both breast and ovarian cancer.
The Gone in 60 Seconds actress emphasized that every woman has the right to take control of her own health journey and make informed decisions based on accurate information.

Angelina also highlighted that difficulties and pain are part of life, but how one faces them is what truly matters.
Mastectomy is a medical term for the removal of one breast, both breasts, or lymph nodes in the underarm, with the purpose of preventing the spread of cancer. —Boom!
