Social media went abuzz when the wedding outfit of Ezlisa Loy, the sister of renowned actress Elfira Loy, was accused of copying the design of influencer Ally Mukhriz’s wedding attire, the granddaughter of former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
Ezlisa, who recently tied the knot with Hafiz Azizi on June 29, wore a light blue songket adorned with pink beaded embroidery designed by Samm Republic.
However, many netizens began comparing the design to the traditional outfit worn by Ally Mukhriz five years ago, which was created by renowned designer Fizi Woo.
“Why does the dress look the same as Ally Mukhriz’s?” wrote one netizen.
Realizing her sister was being targeted by netizens, Elfira stepped in to defend Ezlisa through comments on Instagram and the Threads app with a sharp statement.
“What a joykiller. No wonder you’re friends with…” she wrote sarcastically.
In Ezlisa’s post, Elfira clarified that the inspiration for the outfit actually came from international fashion designer, Michael Cinco.

“Michael Cinco is a legend. I’ve always loved his designs.
Managing to create an outfit similar to his, especially the skirt with its floral sequin combination, is absolutely stunning, Samm Republic,” Elfira explained.
She added that the main goal was simply to look beautiful on the special day.
“Whatever it is, the goal was just to look beautiful.
Every bride wants to look beautiful.
It’s not about competing for whose dress is the prettiest or number one,” Elfira added.
Meanwhile, fashion designer Fizi Woo also reacted to Ally’s post.

“It remains the design I’m most proud of. Such an iconic look.
They’re still trying to replicate it after half a decade,” he said.
For context, Ezlisa and Hafiz’s wedding was a lively affair held at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with a modern-traditional theme. – BOOM!
