Singer and actress, Liyana Jasmay has dismissed claims that she is ‘selling’ her child after duetting with her youngest daughter, Selena, in the single ‘Sekali Sekala Raya’.
According to Liyana, Selena’s appearance in the song was not forced but rather at her daughter’s own request.
“I think if I were ‘selling’ my child, it would mean forcing her. But this was Selena’s request. If I forced her to sing when she didn’t want to, then you could say I’m deliberately ‘selling’ my child,” she explained during the launch event of the single in the capital.
As someone who has been in the entertainment industry since the age of nine, Liyana fully supports Selena’s interest in singing.
“I want to teach my child that what she’s doing is something good, as long as there’s guidance. Some may disagree, but my husband and I really encourage Selena to explore the arts,” she added.
Speaking further about ‘Sekali Sekala Raya’, Liyana hopes the song, composed by Affan Mazlan and Danish Nor, will capture the attention of the younger generation active on social media.
“We’ll try our best to market it well. If the song goes viral, Alhamdulillah. If not, I’m okay with that too,” she said.
Produced by Mermaid Studios Sdn Bhd and Xeno Music, ‘Sekali Sekala Raya’ is available on all digital streaming platforms starting this Friday. – BOOM!
