Black and Eddie’s decision to step away from legendary rock band Wings was made due to emotional circumstances and the need to remain honest with themselves.
Black stressed that everything has its limits, and he chose not to continue deceiving himself or the fans.
“I don’t want to be a hypocrite or lie to myself. Making music cannot be done by pretending to be happy when my soul no longer feels that joy,” he said.
He added that the decision was not a sudden one, as both he and Eddie had held mature discussions before taking a firm stance.
According to Black, honesty was his top priority, and he refused to pretend while performing in the recent concert.
“I need to be honest with myself and the fans. I don’t want to put on a front if I were to continue with the recent concert,” he explained.
However, Black expressed his deep regret towards fans for having to leave Wings.
“I sincerely apologise, from the bottom of my heart, for not being able to remain with Wings,” he said, as quoted by Berita Harian.
Despite stepping down, Black emphasised that he harbours no jealousy or disappointment, and instead feels happy for the success of Wings’ 40 Years: Four Decades Flying High concert. —Boom!
