Renowned director Datuk Yusof Haslam has expressed his support for his son, Syamsul Yusof, should he decide to produce a film depicting the genocide in Gaza.

He said such an initiative would be a positive step in raising awareness about the oppression faced by the Palestinian people.
“I think it’s a good effort to make people aware, not only Muslims but the world at large.

“What’s happening in Gaza and other places like the West Bank is genocide and persecution against Muslims,” he told Boom!.
Yusof shared his thoughts when asked to comment on a recent statement by Indonesian director Jastis Arimba, who suggested that Syamsul create a film highlighting the struggle of the Palestinian people.

According to Yusof, 71, such messages are vital to help both Muslims and non-Muslims understand the true situation in the Middle East.

He also emphasized that films are not merely a source of entertainment, but a medium of da’wah (spiritual message) and social awareness capable of touching people’s hearts.
