The song Hanya Kamu will be performed exclusively on 29 November at Sel Biz, Shah Alam — marking the first official duet between Shahir and Adira Suhaimi after 15 years.
Their vocal combination, guided by mentor Datuk Norman, who was also the former principal of Akademi Fantasia 8, brings a fresh colour and identity that sets it apart from their previous collaborative performances.
Shahir also revealed that Hanya Kamu is the soundtrack for the film Duyung.
“Yes, God willing, on 29 November, we will perform Hanya Kamu exclusively. It is the OST for the film Duyung: Lagenda Aurora,” he said to Boom!
Shahir emphasised that the 15-year wait has finally resulted in a meaningful gift for fans.
“After 15 years, it has finally come true,” he added.
Previously, their duets were limited to cover songs for television.
Shahir expressed his gratitude for Norman’s guidance and continues to use it as a compass in his musical journey.
“I hold on to much of his advice as inspiration for my work,” he said.
Preparations for the song focused on aligning their vocal ranges, as this is Shahir’s first time duetting with a female vocalist. Emotionally, he referred to Norman’s mentorship to fully understand the essence of the song.
The track also features subtle R&B elements, a departure from Shahir’s usual pop-rock and ballad style. Their vocal blend creates a unique identity, touching listeners while evoking nostalgic memories.
Making it even more special, Hanya Kamu is produced and composed by Norman himself, making the project feel like a full-circle moment between mentor and student. —Boom!
