Comedian and radio presenter, Chiwan has issued an apology following his recent statement on a radio segment that caused confusion and discomfort among listeners, particularly women who are housewives.
Through a statement on the Threads platform, Chiwan, whose real name is Mohd Azwan Sabri, 39, clarified that his conversation with a female caller who introduced herself as a ‘successful housewife’ was merely casual banter with no intention of belittling anyone.

Chiwan further explained that he asked the question as a normal way of conversing and not to demean anyone.
The caller had previously explained that she referred to herself as a successful housewife because she didn’t want to appear as though she was putting herself down, given the negative perceptions often associated with the title.
According to Chiwan, he supported the caller’s statement and emphasized that being a housewife is not easy, as it requires immense strength and sacrifice.
He said not all men are capable of shouldering such heavy responsibilities.
The issue gained widespread attention after a snippet of their conversation went viral on social media, with some accusing Chiwan of being sarcastic and insensitive toward the role of housewives.

However, a handful of netizens came to Chiwan’s defense, stating that his remarks were misinterpreted.
At the same time, many also stressed that the role of a housewife is vital and challenging in building families and communities. – BOOM!
