Renowned director, Erma Fatima voiced her disappointment towards a handful of netizens who criticized her drama, Keluarga Itu, saying it was too ‘disgusting’.
But for Erma, the drama isn’t just entertainment, it’s a reflection of the bitter reality that truly happens in society.
“When I made this drama, you all said it’s disgusting. But this is the reality out there? Still want to sweep it under the rug? Our people’s souls are still hurting,” she expressed on Instagram.
Through that post, Erma also shared a snippet of a media report revealing that nearly a hundred percent of rape and incest cases occur in Kelantan, as proof that the issues raised in her drama aren’t just made up.
She also urged the government to take more serious action in tackling the worsening issues of incest and sexual abuse.
“Please, government, take notice and find solutions to help curb this problem. It’s heartbreaking,” she added.
Erma’s sharing sparked various reactions from netizens. Some supported her bravery in exposing true stories, but there were also plenty who felt the topic was too sensitive to be aired openly. – BOOM!
