Singer and composer, Yasin Sulaiman breathed a sigh of relief when the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya today unanimously acquitted and discharged him from three drug-related charges.
The three-judge panel, led by Datuk Che Mohd. Ruzima Ghazali, allowed Yasin’s final appeal to set aside the previous Shah Alam High Court ruling that sentenced him to life imprisonment and 16 strokes of the cane.
Although freed, Yasin, 50, whose real name is Muhammad Yasin Sulaiman, was ordered to be placed at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak, for a period permitted by the Sultan of Selangor.
The decision was supported by two other judges, Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah and Datuk Azmi Ariffin.

Previously, Yasin faced three charges involving possession of 193.7 grams of cannabis, cultivating 17 cannabis plants, and self-administering dangerous drugs.
“I’m grateful that the truth has finally sided with me,” Yasin said briefly after the decision was announced.
On November 29, 2023, the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court also acquitted and discharged Yasin from all those charges. – BOOM!
