A woman in her 50s has reportedly lost USD 340,425 after being scammed by an individual posing as South Korean actor Lee Jung Jae, the star of the hit series Squid Game.

The victim allegedly met the scammer through social media, where the perpetrator used AI-generated photos of the actor to gain her trust.
According to The Chosun Daily, the scammer claimed to be filming Squid Game 3 and needed financial assistance for production and charity-related purposes.

Swayed by sweet promises and offers to meet in person, the victim made over 30 money transfers to multiple bank accounts before realizing she had been deceived.
“Our artist and company have never requested money, account transfers, or any form of financial support. Please ignore any suspicious messages,”
Artist Company stated firmly in an official statement.

Lee Jung Jae is notably the first Korean actor to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in Squid Game.
