[V]Willie Salim Cooks 200kg Of Rendang For Iftar, Shocked As Meat ‘Disappears’!

Popular Indonesian content creator, Willie Salim faced an unexpected incident while holding a massive cooking event for iftar with residents in Palembang, South Sumatra.

The event, which took place at the Benteng Kuto Besak (BKB) grounds on Tuesday (March 18, 2025), turned chaotic when 200 kilograms of rendang meat being cooked suddenly ‘disappeared’ while Willie stepped away to use the restroom.

In a post on his official social media, Willie was seen starting the cooking session by pouring oil into a giant wok.

“Let’s pour the oil first,” he said at the beginning of the video.

Willie and his team carried on with the cooking process carefully, adding various spices and meat into the huge wok.

The stirring and cooking of the rendang meat went smoothly, with tight security measures in place to prevent any unwanted incidents.

However, an unexpected twist happened when Willie asked for a quick break to visit the restroom. When he returned, the giant wok, which was supposed to be full of rendang meat, was left with just a bit of brown gravy.

In a follow-up video, a police officer on duty at the scene explained the situation to Willie. He said the crowd was too excited and ignored instructions not to grab the food because it was still hot and not fully cooked.

“I already told them not to rush in… the stove was still hot and could be dangerous, especially for kids,” the officer explained.

“But they took it anyway. It wasn’t even cooked yet, but it’s all gone,” he added with a small laugh.

Willie, still stunned by the incident, said in a shocked tone:

“This is hundreds of kilograms!”

“Yeah, it disappeared in the blink of an eye, not even a minute,” the officer replied with a smile.

According to the police, the locals had taken the rendang meat in all sorts of ways — some used plastic bags, buckets, and even ladles to scoop it straight from the giant wok.

The incident also left a man in a blue shirt at the scene saying that things got out of control due to the overwhelming excitement of the huge crowd that showed up. The police and security team were seen working hard to manage the situation, but many were too eager to grab the rendang meat.

What’s more interesting, even though the incident left Willie in shock, he eventually accepted it with an open heart. In fact, he didn’t show any anger, choosing instead to take it in stride and see it as a sweet memory he’d never forget in his career as a content creator.

“Oh well… Palembang life!” he said with a laugh at the end of the video.
