The Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition related to sexual assault allegations filed by Hollywood star Vin Diesel’s former assistant over an incident she claims happened more than a decade ago.

Judge Daniel M. Crowley, in his ruling, described Asta Jonasson’s claim as “inadmissible” and inconsistent with the purpose of the state’s legal code.
He further explained that the alleged sexual assault took place in Georgia, therefore California is not the appropriate jurisdiction for filing such a complaint.

Crowley stated that California law cannot be applied to any of the plaintiff’s claims. The case had been scheduled for trial in February next year.

Asta’s lawyer, Matthew T. Hale, said in a statement that the decision was based on a “technical error,” adding that the court did not make any assessment regarding the truth of the allegations.
“We respectfully disagree. Jonasson intends to appeal,” he said.
In the lawsuit filed in December 2023, Asta claimed she was sexually assaulted while working as Diesel’s assistant. The alleged incident occurred in 2010 during the filming of Fast Five in Atlanta.

Asta brought forward 10 claims, including sexual assault, retaliation, and various violations of the California Fair Employment and Housing Act.
The complaint also sought action against Diesel’s production company, One Race Films, and its president, Samantha Vincent, who is Diesel’s sister. However, Diesel’s attorney, Bryan J. Freedman, denied all allegations. —Boom!
