Renowned Hollywood actor, Tom Cruise has reportedly declined an invitation to be an early recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors during U.S. President, Donald Trump’s second term at the White House.
According to a Washington Post report, Cruise was invited to receive the prestigious recognition but declined due to “scheduling conflicts.”
The spokesperson for the Top Gun actor, however, refused to provide any comments.
On Wednesday, Trump announced the names of the Kennedy Center Honors recipients, including film icon, Sylvester Stallone and country music legend, George Strait.
This move is seen as part of the President’s efforts to strengthen control over the Kennedy Center arts complex.
Despite declining the invitation, Cruise is still scheduled to receive an honorary award for his contributions to the film industry before the end of 2025.
Last June, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced that he will receive an Honorary Oscar at the 2025 Governors Awards, set to take place on November 16. – BOOM!
