Actor Syaiful Zero’s portrayal of a male merman inspired by the Aquaman superhero captured widespread attention during the premiere of Duyung: Legenda Aurora, held recently at GSC Lalaport, Kuala Lumpur.
In the film, directed by Associate Professor Datuk Dr. Abdul Razak Mohaideen, Syaiful plays the role of Aurora’s brother, a character portrayed by actress Anna Jobling.
The action sequences featuring Syaiful were regarded as more polished and impactful compared to the first mermaid film released 17 years ago.
Duyung: Legenda Aurora is set to hit cinemas nationwide in two days.
Audiences at the premiere expressed admiration for Syaiful’s performance, highlighting his energy, action skills, and strong on-screen presence as Aurora’s protective brother.

Beyond the impressive action scenes, the professionalism of Sharif and his younger brother Atu Zero also drew praise. Atu portrays the antagonist in the film, and their convincing performances were notable despite reports of a strained relationship between them in real life.
Media previously reported that Atu had expressed his willingness to set aside his ego and reconcile with Sharif, reflecting his strong commitment to his career.
In addition to Anna Jobling and Syaiful Zero, the film features a supporting cast that includes Ayie Floor 88, Maya Karin, Saiful Apek, and Yasmin Hani.
