Famous Korean actress and singer Suzy stepped up to help by donating ₩100 million (~RM340,000) to those affected by the massive forest fires in Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang.
According to a statement from the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association on March 26, Suzy’s agency said:
“Suzy was touched by news of the forest fires spreading and felt called to help in this critical time. She hopes the fires can be put out soon and all the victims can return to their normal lives.”
Suzy is also a member of the Hope Bridge Honors Club, a group of big donors who have been supporting disaster relief efforts since 2019. So far, Suzy’s total donations to Hope Bridge have reached ₩600 million (~RM2 million).
The Secretary-General of Hope Bridge, Shin Hoon, also praised Suzy’s kind act:
“Suzy’s donation is a message of hope for many victims. We will make sure this aid is delivered as best as possible.”
Not just Suzy, many other Korean celebrities have come forward with donations, including singer Lee Chan-won, National MC Yoo Jae-suk, Go Min-si, actress Chun Woo-hee, Yim Siwan, So Yoo-jin, and many more.
As the fires in the Yeongnam region enter their sixth day, various groups, including celebrities, are coming together to ease the burden of the disaster victims. – BOOM!
