The Squid Game phenomenon continues to shake the world. The third and final season of this popular Korean series made history by garnering 60.1 million views in just the first three days of its release on Netflix, becoming the highest-viewed non-English series ever recorded in a three-day period on the platform.
According to a Variety report, this remarkable achievement was accomplished despite the new episodes only premiering last Friday, leaving just three days to be counted in Netflix’s weekly chart (Monday to Sunday).
For comparison, Season 2, which premiered on a Thursday (December 26), had four days to accumulate views and still managed to record 68 million views in its first week, breaking the previous record held by the series Wednesday (50.1 million views).
Interestingly, this season has already soared to the top of the charts and has the potential to achieve even more impressive numbers in the coming weeks.
Since its launch in 2021, Squid Game remains Netflix’s most-watched series of all time, with 16.5 billion viewing hours in its first 28 days.
This phenomenon has also spawned the reality show Squid Game: The Challenge and transformed the landscape of Korean content on global streaming platforms. – BOOM!
