Disney’s remake film, Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler, recorded a huge failure, earning just $43 million in the domestic market during its opening week, compared to its $250 million production budget.
According to a Fortune report, the film directed by Marc Webb only managed to collect $87.3 million globally, including $44.3 million from international markets. Photos and videos of empty cinemas during Snow White screenings also went viral, making not just Disney but Rachel Zegler a target of netizens’ criticism.
The 23-year-old actress had already faced backlash before due to her statements criticizing the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) film, which sparked anger among fans.
Even more embarrassing, an old video of Zegler resurfaced and went viral on social media.
“I can only hope that despite all my flaws and shortcomings, at every premiere and event, people will line up waiting to see me,” she said confidently in that clip.
But with disappointing earnings and empty theaters, netizens kept mocking Zegler.
“Welcome back to reality, princess… Snow White is a total flop!” wrote one critic.
The Snow White film is now listed as one of Disney’s worst-performing movies in decades. – BOOM!
