The long-awaited sequel Rush Hour 4 is now moving forward under Paramount Pictures after several U.S. media reports claimed it received intervention from U.S. President Donald Trump.

Paramount has secured funding for Rush Hour 4 and finalized a distribution deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, which previously owned the franchise under New Line Cinema.
The project had been stalled for years.

The development signals a revival of the franchise, which achieved massive global success in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

However, the film’s progress is shadowed by controversy, as director Brett Ratner has faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct made by several actresses. Ratner has denied the accusations and has never been charged.

According to box office estimates, the first three Rush Hour films were global hits especially in China collectively earning more than $850 million (RM3.1 billion) worldwide. —Boom!
