Despite undergoing military training, BTS’ lead vocalist RM, whose real name is Kim Nam Joon, proved his star power remains strong as he was announced the winner of Favorite Kpop Artist at the American Music Awards (AMA) 2025.
What’s even more impressive, the now 31-year-old RM triumphed over other strong contenders like Jimin, Ateez, Rosé Blackpink, and Stray Kids.

This victory further cements his status as one of the world’s most influential Kpop icons, even without releasing new music for a while.
“RM remains a fan favorite despite not being actively present recently.
It’s a strong testament to his influence in the global industry,” stated the AMA.
The prestigious awards ceremony took place at the Fontainebleau Hotel, Los Angeles, but RM couldn’t attend due to his ongoing military training, which is expected to conclude this June.

Interestingly, this is only the second time the Favorite Kpop Artist category has been awarded since the AMAs resumed this year after a two-year hiatus. Previously, the trophy was won by BTS in 2022.
Meanwhile, popular singer Billie Eilish dominated the AMA 2025 stage, taking home seven trophies, including Best Song, Best Album, and Best Artist. – BOOM!
