The official website of influencer Khairul Aming’s restaurant, Rembayung, experienced a system outage after being flooded with over 3,000 bookings at once, causing an unexpected surge in traffic.

Khairul Aming shared the update on Threads last night, apologising to customers for the disruption.
“We sincerely apologise as the Rembayung booking website failed to function earlier. We tried our best, but the system couldn’t handle the extremely high data traffic. To the 3,000 customers who successfully made reservations, we will do our very best to ensure you enjoy a great dining experience at Rembayung. Thank you,” he added.

The opening of reservations at 9pm attracted massive public interest. Within just two hours, Rembayung’s Instagram account saw its follower count surge to 100,000 after the announcement went viral on social media.

The restaurant is scheduled to officially open on January 6 in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, following an estimated RM4 million investment.
Rembayung operates on an online reservation-only basis, with no walk-in customers allowed, a strategy aimed at preventing overcrowding at the premises.

Despite the initial technical issues, netizens continued to show strong support for Khairul Aming’s venture, with many sharing words of encouragement online.
The incident highlights the overwhelming interest among Malaysians in new restaurant concepts introduced by local influencers, even before their official opening. The Rembayung team is currently working to improve the booking system to ensure a smoother experience for future diners. –Boom!
