The iconic Iron Man actor, Robert Downey Jr. (RDJ), is expected to make a comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as the villainous Doctor Doom.
However, fans will have to wait a bit longer as Disney announced the postponement of two highly anticipated Avengers films.

According to Disney’s official announcement, Avengers: Doomsday, which marks RDJ’s return, will now hit theaters on December 18, 2026, seven months later than its original date of May 1, 2026.
The film is currently in the filming phase following the announcement of a star-studded cast earlier this year.
Also delayed is Avengers: Secret Wars, which has shifted its release to December 17, 2027, compared to its initial plan of May 2, 2027.
According to sources cited by Reuters, the postponement was made to give filmmakers more time to complete these two massive projects.
Both films are part of MCU’s Phase VI and are directed by the Russo Brothers, who previously helmed the MCU’s highest-grossing films, Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War, each earning over USD 2 billion worldwide.
Avengers: Endgame (2019) still holds the record as the second highest-grossing film of all time with USD 2.8 billion, trailing behind Avatar (USD 2.9 billion).
Marvel and Disney are now hoping Doomsday and Secret Wars can match the success of their predecessors and restore the brilliance of the MCU franchise, which remains the most profitable in film history. – BOOM!
