Malaysian songstress Datuk Nora Ariffin has drawn attention online after uploading a reel on Instagram with the bold caption:
“As the rightful heir, I just want to know, who gave the permission…?”
Her statement refers to her rights as the heir to the works of the late Johan Nawawi, the celebrated composer who was also her late husband.

The issue arose after the iconic song Sinaran resurfaced in public discussion when Indonesian singer Datuk Seri Rossa released a new version of the song in collaboration with local rapper MK K-Clique.

The original Sinaran was popularized by Datuk Sheila Majid in 1986 through the album Emosi, composed by two legendary Malaysian musicians, Azlan Abu Hassan and Johan Nawawi.

Nora emphasized that her fight is not merely about royalties, but rather about respecting the artistic legacy of her late husband, who made significant contributions to Malaysia’s music scene.

Fans and fellow musicians have shown strong support, echoing that heirs’ rights must be protected and that artists’ creations deserve proper recognition and respect.
