The actions of two brothers who made a false report claiming they were lost in Sungai Tui, Bukit Kepong, led to consequences as they were each sentenced to one month in prison and fined RM1,500 by the Muar Magistrate’s Court today.
According to a Harian Metro report, the accused, Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin, 38, known as a motoring icon, along with his brother Tengku Abdul Aziz, 30, made the false report on July 15, triggering a large-scale search and rescue operation (Op Carilamat).

Both pleaded guilty after the charges were read before Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar.
The court also ruled that if they fail to pay the fine, Tengku Nizaruddin will face three months in prison, while his brother will face six months, starting from the date of conviction today.
The case drew attention from netizens, most of whom expressed disappointment over the irresponsible act that wasted the authorities’ resources. – BOOM!
