Aina Abdul is back in the spotlight after taking a brief break from social media following her controversial performance at the 39th Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL 39).
The singer and composer successfully took home the Best Performance trophy for her song Puas Sudah, but at the same time faced heavy criticism, including accusations and face shaming from some netizens.
Acknowledging that it’s not easy to face challenges as an artist, Aina said the decision to step back from social media was made so she could reassess her career journey in a calmer environment.
“I disappeared from social media for a while so I could think about what I want to do in my career.”
Aina, who has stepped onto the AJL stage for six consecutive years, also shared that she’s now more comfortable focusing on writing and creating quietly, waiting for the right time to return with a new song.
The winner of the Best Vocal trophy at AJL for three consecutive years also clarified that her performance concept at AJL was not about showing off, but rather part of the artistic expression she brings every year.
“It’s not showing off, it’s the performance concept. I’ve done it every year… But why is it seen negatively this time?”
Although still actively working behind the scenes, Aina chooses to keep her plans under wraps until she’s truly ready to share them with the public.
“I believe many want to see me fall, so I prefer to wait for the right time and when circumstances allow, I’ll release my ‘baby.’”
She said her new song is currently in the final stages and is set to be released after Aidilfitri. – BOOM!
