27 February 2025, Putrajaya. – Malaysia’s tourism industry is set to receive a fresh boost through TravelMate, an online tourism platform initiated by KRU Media Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Guangzhou-based technology company, Best Sailing Technology Limited Company from Guangzhou, China.
TravelMate targets tourists from China to visit Malaysia, aligning with the preparations for the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, which aims to increase the number of international tourists to the country.
During an introductory session held at Wetland Studios Putrajaya, TravelMate was introduced as a platform offering various services, including guided tours in Mandarin. These tours will help Chinese tourists better understand the uniqueness of Malaysia’s culture, history, and attractions, providing them with a more enjoyable and enriching experience.
Interestingly, TravelMate also leverages local influencers and is available in Mandarin using artificial intelligence (AI) technology developed by KRU Media as part of an innovative marketing strategy. With the growing influence of social media, TravelMate hopes to attract more tourists through creative and interactive digital approaches.
This collaboration is expected to have a significant impact in promoting Malaysia’s beauty to the Chinese market in a more modern and effective way.
“This platform was created as a proactive step to address the significant gap in tourist arrivals from China. According to 2024 data, approximately 150 million Chinese tourists traveled abroad, but only about 3 million chose Malaysia as their destination,” said Dato’ Norman Abdul Halim, President & CEO of KRU Media.
With the innovations introduced through TravelMate, it is hoped that more Chinese tourists will choose Malaysia as their top vacation destination. TravelMate is expected to be a new platform in increasing the number of Chinese tourists to Malaysia, thereby revitalizing the country’s tourism sector.
TravelMate is scheduled to be officially launched for customer use by mid-April 2025. – BOOM!
