Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested on January 12 after allegedly assaulting a ride-share driver, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Canadian-British actor was detained after authorities received an emergency call in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles around midnight.
“Preliminary investigation found that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (victim), and issued criminal threats against the victim,” police said in a statement.
The 59-year-old actor was released several hours later after posting bail of US$50,000.

AFP reported that Sutherland’s representative did not provide any comment regarding the incident.
Police said the driver did not sustain injuries that required medical treatment.
Sutherland is best known for his role as counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer in the popular television series 24, which aired from 2001 to 2010. On the big screen, he also left a mark through films such as The Lost Boys (1987), Stand By Me (1986), and The Three Musketeers (1993).

Kiefer is the son of renowned actor Donald Sutherland, who passed away in 2024. – BOOM!
