International singer, Jessie J shocked fans when she revealed she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer and will take a break from the entertainment world to focus on treatment and surgery.
Through a post on Instagram, Jessie J, 37, stated that the decision was made after receiving the diagnosis recently.
“Cancer is scary in any form, but I’m holding on to one word – ‘early’,” she wrote.
According to the singer of Price Tag, she will still perform her final show at the Summertime Ball concert at Wembley Stadium, London, on June 15 this year, before undergoing surgery.
Jessie also shared that she chose to share to share her story publicly to inspire other cancer patients who are fighting.
“I know the power of sharing a true story. It helps me stay strong and might help others too.
In the past, other people’s honest stories gave me strength, now it’s my turn,” she said.

In her statement, Jessie also gave assurance that this break is not the end of her music career.
“I’ll be back. But this time with a stronger soul.
When I stand on stage again, my voice won’t just sing, it’ll be the expression of a fighter’s heart,” she added.
