Actor Pedro Pascal has finally spoken out regarding the backlash he received after being announced as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, Pedro admitted that he is aware of the dissatisfaction from some fans who feel he is “too old” and “not suitable” for the iconic role.

“I’m more aware of the discontent about my casting this time compared to other projects before.
People say I’m too old, I don’t fit, I need to shave my mustache,” he said honestly.
Pedro added that joining the Marvel Universe for the first time is both challenging and daunting, but he is grateful for the support from iconic actor, Robert Downey Jr.
“Robert was very generous and friendly.
He made me feel free to be scared, doubtful, and hungry (passionate),” he said.
The actor, known for The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, also shared that he hasn’t seen the full version of the film yet but feels confident that the final result reflects the effort and passion of the entire production team.
“We poured our hearts and souls into this genre.
But we won’t know if people will be touched… or hate it,” Pedro said with a laugh.
The film is set to premiere on July 25, 2025, and features an impressive cast including Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm).
The main villain of the film is Galactus, with Julia Garner playing the role of Silver Surfer. – BOOM!
