Social activists and volunteers, Heliza Helmi and her sister Hazwani Helmi, have captured public attention after being nicknamed “kacip” (which loosely means funny or goofy) by netizens.

According to Harian Metro, the term is used affectionately to describe their lively and humorous personalities. However, both sisters took the label positively, seeing it as something that brings joy to others.
“I’m not offended at all,” Heliza said.
The nickname went viral on Threads after the duo were seen exchanging lighthearted comments with each other on the platform.

They also shared their experiences joining the Global Sumud Flotilla, emphasizing a relaxed approach to engage with Generation Z.
“We’re trying to build connections with the younger generation; if we talk about heavy topics right away, they might lose interest,” said Hazwani.
“I was surprised when many people started asking, ‘Where’s the Geng Kacip?’ on social media. It’s not a label I created, but I turned it into a way to strengthen relationships while spreading awareness about Palestine.”

Their warm, humorous, and down-to-earth personalities have made them increasingly popular, inspiring many to follow their humanitarian efforts online.
