Following the issue surrounding the boycott of Israeli-linked products, singer and humanitarian activist Hazwani Helmi has come forward to explain her use of an iPhone during the grand finale night of Anugerah Bintang Popular ke-37 (ABP37) recently.

Hazwani clarified that the iPhone was neither purchased by her nor sponsored, but was instead a gift from someone.
“The iPhone was given to me, and I didn’t expect it to become such a big issue. My intention in using it that night was simply to celebrate the event,” she said in a TikTok video.

Previously, a video clip of Hazwani using an iPhone went viral and drew the attention of netizens. The clip sparked various reactions, including criticism linking the brand to Israel’s alleged atrocities.

Hazwani is known as an individual who actively advocates for the Palestinian cause and recently took part in the Global Sumud Flotilla, which sailed to Gaza for a humanitarian mission.
She added that the iPhone was chosen due to its large storage capacity, which makes video editing easier and allows for faster content uploads.

At the same time, Hazwani admitted that if there were comparable software available, she would prioritise local products over using an iPhone.
Concluding her explanation, Hazwani apologised for any oversight and expressed hope that the issue would not be prolonged. –Boom!
