K-pop star G-Dragon sparked controversy when his vocals were heavily criticised during his performance at the 2025 MAMA Awards, despite winning major awards including Artist of the Year.

Netizens slammed the quality of his singing, claiming he failed to perform fully live and that parts of his vocals relied on recorded support (AR) to maintain the flow of the performance.

His agency, Galaxy Corporation, explained that changes to the performance were actually made to honour the victims of the massive fire tragedy in Hong Kong on 26 November 2025, which claimed 159 lives.
According to the agency, the adjustments were a gesture of solidarity and mourning, not an attempt to reduce stage quality or chase glamour.

Public reactions, however, remain divided. Some critics argued that technical issues or performance preparation should not be excused, while supporters understood the intention behind the toned-down stage and appreciated the effort to respect the sombre situation.

Additionally, G-Dragon reportedly donated funds to aid the fire victims as a show of solidarity. –Boom!
