Sooyoung from the popular group Girls’ Generation (SNSD) surprised fans when she appeared in the official poster for the new Hollywood movie ‘Ballerina’, the first spin-off from the ‘John Wick’ franchise.
In the official reveal on April 24 (ET), Sooyoung was introduced as Katla Park, the daughter of a Ruska Roma member named Il Seong.
Her character plays a key role in the first mission of the lead, Eve Macarro (played by Ana de Armas), who is tasked with protecting Katla.
‘Ballerina’ follows the story of Eve, an assassin trained in the Ballerina program within the John Wick universe.
She hunts down those who betrayed her, facing off with several iconic characters from the franchise, including John Wick himself, reprised by Keanu Reeves.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters across the U.S. starting June 6 (ET).
Meanwhile, fans in Korea will also see Sooyoung in tvN’s new drama ‘Second Shot at Love’, set to air on May 12 (KST).
Sooyoung’s involvement in this international film marks a major step in her acting career onto the global stage, making her one of the K-pop stars who’ve successfully broken into Hollywood’s film industry. – BOOM!
