Malaysian singer and celebrity chef, Datuk Fazley Yaakob, highlighted the societal stigma that often unfairly judges widowers and divorced women. He explained that the label “hottest widower” seems to boost male ego, while “hottest divorcee” often carries negative connotations.

“People are quick to judge a divorcee as if she is selling her dignity. These labels are sometimes just for fun, don’t take them seriously. No one marries intending to divorce, not every divorce causes suffering, and not all marriages last because the couple is happy. Understand?” he wrote on Threads.
The singer of Asmara Ini emphasized that not all widowers are good and not all divorcees are bad, urging society to be fair and non-judgmental.

Comments online reflected that divorced women often face criticism even from other women, showing that the stigma against divorcees remains strong.
“Strangely, the ones criticizing divorcees are women themselves… shouldn’t women support women instead of bringing them down?” wrote one netizen. -Boom!
