The chief judge of Anugerah Juara Lagu 39 (AJL39), Edry Abdul Halim, revealed that Ernie Zakri, Aina Abdul, and Nadeera were the top three singers who gave a tough fight for the Best Vocal Award.
According to Edry, Ernie Zakri was crowned the winner due to her ability to showcase diverse vocal techniques through her performance of Aura.
“The top 3 best vocals are Ernie Zakri, Aina Abdul, and Nadeera. These three singers competed fiercely for the Best Vocal Award.”
“Ernie won because of the vocal techniques she used. She incorporated ‘a lot of runs’ and various techniques in Aura. That is why she secured the highest position compared to the other two,” Edry explained during the AJL39 grand finale press conference at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, on Sunday.
When asked about the score differences between the three talented singers, Edry stated that the gap was extremely small.
“The difference in marks between them was very close. Sometimes, it only takes one mark to set them apart.”
“Maybe the score was affected by something as small as taking a longer breath. But who are we to discredit the second and third-place winners? They are all incredible singers.”
AJL39 crowned Hening Rindu by Marsha Milan as the champion, earning RM100,000 in prize money. Meanwhile, Bukan Lagi Kita by Nadeera secured second place, while Saksama by Akim & The Majistret took third.
