The police are preparing to summon Song Min Ho, a member of the group WINNER, to assist in an investigation regarding allegations of negligent social service.
A spokesperson for the National Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, confirmed during a press conference on January 6 that the singer has yet to be called in for questioning.
“He has not been questioned yet. Authorities are currently focusing on analyzing evidence such as CCTV footage from the social welfare facility where he was stationed,” said the spokesperson.
The controversy began on December 17, 2024, when Song Min Ho was accused of failing to properly fulfill his duties as a social service agent. Colleagues and other individuals reportedly filed complaints about his attendance and behavior to the media outlet Dispatch.
Although Song Min Ho took medical leave citing social anxiety disorder and panic attacks, he was allegedly spotted several times in public, including attending parties and camping activities in Goseong and Yangyang, Gangwon Province.
The case has now been referred to the police by the Military Manpower Administration after the controversy persisted without an internal investigation. Song Min Ho is being investigated as a suspect for potentially violating the Military Service Act.
Song Min Ho began his alternative service in March 2023 and completed it on December 23, 2024.
This controversy has drawn significant attention, and authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure the integrity of social service. – BOOM!
