Comedian Shahrol Azizie Azmi, better known as Shahrol Shiro, has taken firm action by lodging a police report against a social media post by fellow comedian Harith Iskander, which he claims insults Islam.
The report was filed at the Kluang District Police Headquarters (IPD) yesterday, also targeting another individual known as Cecella Yap Song KL for her comment allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad SAW.
“Harith Iskander & Cecelia Yap, for my religion, police report ON,” wrote Shahrol in his social media post.
Shahrol also expressed his disappointment with Harith, claiming that his actions have opened the door for others to mock Islam.
“As comedians, not every perspective can be turned into a joke. We should be more sensitive, especially when it involves our religion.”
He emphasized that the matter had gone too far, and filing a police report was a necessary step.
Previously, Harith Iskander posted about a coffee named “Ham Sap Kopi”, referring to a local food truck’s menu. In his post, Harith wrote:
“I am so confused. My faith is shaken. This coffee will lead me astray in many ways. Who else is confused?”
The post ended with a laughing emoji, which sparked backlash from netizens, who found the joke inappropriate and offensive to religious sensitivities. – BOOM!
