The founder of the famous Malay clothing brand Elrah Exclusive, El Azman, is back in the spotlight after being accused of copying the samping fabric design belonging to the family of influencer Tyra Kamaruzzaman’s husband, Emran Rijal.
Through an Instagram post, Tyra revealed that the samping design is a family heirloom passed down through Emran’s ancestors since 1890.
“This samping design is an inheritance from Emran’s ancestors, handed down to their descendants since 1890. It’s also a trademark of Emran’s family because it’s a generational heirloom. But sadly, it’s been plagiarized.
What’s most upsetting, they (Elrah) copied it 100 percent, including the colors on the samping,” Tyra expressed.
Tyra also shared a copyright certificate for the design under the Copyright Act 1987, as solid proof.
Even more disappointing, according to Tyra, Emran has tried contacting El Azman several times to settle this issue but got no cooperation.
“Emran has reached out to the owner (Elrah), but he gave all sorts of excuses not to meet. It’s been months trying to resolve this, but he says he has no time to meet… weirdly, he somehow has time to collaborate with several artists,” Tyra explained.
As evidence, Emran also shared screenshots of messages he once sent to El Azman via Instagram.
So far, Elrah Exclusive has not released any official statement about these allegations. – BOOM!
