Drake seems to have moved on from his long-standing conflict with Kendrick Lamar. In his latest album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, released on Valentine’s Day, the Canadian rapper subtly addresses their ‘rap beef.’
In the track Gimme a Hug, Drake opens with the line, “Drake elimination, fake intimidation,” which is believed to be a response to Kanye West’s past remarks about wanting to see him fall from the top as an artist.
Drake also takes a dig at his rival with the line, “You Neo in the matrix, these n—– just Nemo in the ocean.” Previously, the One Dance hitmaker wore a hoodie with fake bullet holes during a concert in Australia, seemingly sending a message that he’s still standing despite the attacks.
However, the most talked-about moment comes at the end of the song when he raps, “F**k a rap beef, I’m tryna get the party lit.” Many believe this is directed at Lamar, who recently smirked at the camera while name-dropping Drake during his Super Bowl performance.
Previously, Lamar sparked huge controversy with his diss track Not Like Us, where he openly accused the Hotline Bling singer of being a pedophile.
Drake’s new album has received mixed reactions from fans. Is this a sign that Drake is truly moving on, or just a strategy before launching his next attack? – BOOM!
