Famous Indonesian singer, Ariel Noah admitted he can’t bring himself to be too strict with his daughter, Alleia Anata, who’s now 20 years old.
Ariel, whose real name is Nazril Irham, 44, said a gentle and open approach works better to keep their bond strong.
“I try my best not to be possessive. What I do with my kid is just based on my life experiences,” he said.
According to Ariel, he worries that putting too many restrictions or controls might push his daughter away and make her stop talking to him.
“I’m more scared that she (Alleia) won’t want to speak to me if I set too many rules. What’s important is, at that age, we don’t need to be too strict.”
He shared this in a podcast episode, Curhat Bang Denny Sumarga, uploaded to YouTube recently.
For Ariel, mistakes made by kids are normal since they still lack life experience. But parents still have the duty to give fair corrections and guidance.
Ariel added jokingly that his daughter already gets enough scolding from his ex-wife, Sarah Amalia, who’s way stricter than he is.
For info, Ariel and Sarah got married in 2005 but split after three years together. From that marriage, they were blessed with one daughter, Alleia Anata. – BOOM!
