Entrepreneur, Datuk Seri Adnan Abu Bakar, also known as Datuk Red, denied claims that he has not yet ‘moved on’ or is obsessed with divorce after filing an application to confirm the reconciliation (lafaz rujuk) with his ex-wife, singer Adira Suhaimi.
He clarified that the action was solely to get certainty regarding their marital status following the alleged reconciliation in May 2024.
“This is not about moving on or being obsessed with divorce. Right now, my status with her is still pending, whether I am still her husband or not,” he was quoted by Berita Harian.
According to Adnan, the application is important to verify the validity of the reconciliation when met after proceedings at Gombak Barat Lower Syariah Court this morning.
“If the judge says the reconciliation is valid, it means I am still her husband. If not, we can each go our separate ways,” he added.
He also emphasized that he does not want the issue to drag on.
“I referred this case to the court because I don’t want it to become an issue later. As for the moral consequences, I will bear it myself,” he said.
At the same time, Adnan claimed that Adira refused to communicate with him directly.
“It’s difficult to communicate about our child. I don’t want to communicate through intermediaries. Don’t worry, there’s nothing else, it’s only about our child,” he said.
