Actor and social media personality Azhar Sulaiman considers the opportunity to portray a mak nyah character who finds redemption in the 15-episode drama Bintang Di Langit Syawal as a significant blessing in his career.

“Honestly, I was told that several other actors were considered, but the opportunity came to me, and I regard it as an honour,” he said.
Azhar plays a transgender character who returns to the right path and later serves as an NGO activist in the Chow Kit area. However, he firmly states that he will not take on such a role again, believing the impact would be very different if repeated.

“Once is enough. I wanted to challenge myself with a character who transforms for the better and eventually serves with a non-governmental organisation in Chow Kit,” he told Harian Metro.
Throughout filming, Azhar admits he gained eye-opening insights as he witnessed the harsh realities of life on the streets. He also expressed gratitude to the director, Bahri Uma, for trusting him with the role.
“Honestly, during the shoot, I saw many things that made me realise the reality of life,” he shared.

Azhar, 54, who rose to fame in 1989, is well known for dramas such as Cinta Antara Benua, Romeo & Juliet, Cinta Korporat, Astana Idaman, and the sitcom Spanar Jaya.
He hopes that his portrayal of Latif will create new opportunities and eventually earn him the acting award he has long dreamed of. — Boom!
