The latest film directed by James Cameron, Avatar: Fire and Ash, has kicked off 2026 on a massive high after surpassing US$1 billion (RM4.1 billion) in global box office takings.

The film has held the number one spot at the global box office for three consecutive weeks in North America, marking a strong start to the year for the cinema industry.
Within its first three weeks of release, Avatar: Fire and Ash grossed around US$40 million (RM162.7 million) in North America and US$777.1 million (RM3.2 billion) from international markets, placing it among the most successful films of the year so far.

The film follows the Sully family as they face new threats after the events of The Way of Water, delivering stunning 3D visuals and epic action that fans have come to expect from the Avatar franchise.
This achievement makes Fire and Ash the fourth James Cameron film to cross the RM4.1 billion mark, following Titanic, Avatar, and The Way of Water.

Other titles such as Zootopia 2, the thriller The Housemaid, and the drama Marty Supreme have also contributed to the positive momentum at the box office.
