The Korean entertainment industry was shocked by the news of the passing of veteran actor Song Young Kyu, who was found lifeless inside a vehicle.
According to an official statement from the Yongin Dongbu Police Station, Song’s body was discovered in a car parked in a residential area in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, around 8 a.m. on August 4.
The tragic discovery was made after a woman reported it to the authorities.
As of now, investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of death and any suspicious circumstances surrounding it.
Song Young Kyu’s passing comes roughly a month after he sparked controversy for being involved in a drunk driving case.
On June 19, he reportedly drove 5 kilometers from Giheung-gu to Cheoin-gu after drinking with friends.
When apprehended, his blood alcohol level exceeded 0.08%, leading to the cancellation of his driver’s license. The case was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office without detention.
