Former MasterChef Malaysia finalist, Etiqah Siti Noorashikeen Mohd. Sulong and her ex-husband, Mohammad Ambree Yunos @ Unos, were each sentenced to 34 years in prison by the Kota Kinabalu High Court after being found guilty of murdering their maid four years ago.
Quoting a report from Kosmo! Online, the couple was convicted for causing the death of Nur Afiyah Daeng Damin, 28, at a condominium in Penampang between December 8 and 11, 2021.

Judge Datuk Dr. Lim Hock Leng stated that the prosecution successfully proved the case beyond reasonable doubt. He added that both accused acted with common intent, and the criminal elements under Section 300(c) of the Penal Code were fulfilled.
“The type of injuries and the cruelty inflicted over a prolonged period.
This was not a case of accident or negligence,” said Judge Lim during sentencing.
Mohammad Ambree was also sentenced to 12 strokes of the cane, while Etiqah was exempted due to her gender under the provisions of Section 289 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The victim reportedly suffered severe injuries from daily abuse. She was also unpaid and prevented from returning to her home country. The couple was arrested a day after claiming they ‘found’ the victim unconscious at their home after returning from Kundasang.
Previously, the couple was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a death penalty or a minimum of 30 years and a maximum of 40 years in prison, along with caning, if the death penalty is not imposed. – BOOM!
