Three Era FM radio hosts, Nabil Ahmad, Radin Amir, and Azad Jasmin, have finally spoken up after being rested following a controversy over a video said to have touched on racial sensitivities recently.
In a video uploaded yesterday, Nabil expressed how touched he was by the solid support from fans throughout the period they were sidelined.
“We take this chance to say thank you to all our friends, loyal Era FM listeners who gave so many comments, messages, and 150 percent support to keep us motivated,” he said.
Besides fans, they also thanked the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for their help in handling the controversy.
According to Nabil, they are now taking some time to rest during Ramadan before returning to the airwaves.
“We want to let everyone know that Era FM and Astro will always stand by us as we face this challenge we’re going through.”
“In this blessed month, we want to take a short break, and God willing, we’ll return to brighten your days,” he added.
Meanwhile, Azad stressed the importance of unity among Malaysians.
“The most important thing now is that we, as Malaysians, need to stay united, work together, and stand side by side forever,” he said.
Before this, MCMC imposed a RM250,000 fine on Maestra Broadcast Network System Sdn. Bhd. for a breach under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, after getting approval from the Attorney General’s Office.
Even though the three radio hosts were temporarily suspended, Era FM’s broadcast license was not revoked.
Now, fans just need to wait for their comeback on air after Ramadan! – BOOM!
